Wild King Parrot

We often see king parrots in our garden – but they are easily spooked by any movement.

Yet, visiting my eldest son’s family recently at Bullaburra, in the Blue Mountains to the West of Sydney, I had the very unexpected pleasure of hand feeding one of the wild king parrots which frequent the suburban fringes.

What a magic moment.

I felt very special – even if he was digging his long sharp pointy claws into my fingers!

This little chap was fearless – but the rest of his family members were more cautious and watched from the tree.
